The Austin & Texas Central Railroad is located in the Austin area, ~15 miles southeast of Taylor. Phase 1 is complete with a 3200-foot mainline run. Taylor and Elgin have the nearest hotels.

The Railroad

  • FRS Radio dispatched at all times
  • Maximum grade: 2%
  • Minimum radius: 50 feet
  • Passing length: 100 feet
  • Loading/Unloading transfer table: 12.5 feet
  • Turntable: 24 feet
  • Steaming bays: 20 feet
  • Solid fuel steam locomotives are required to have a spark arrestor with a solid impact plate. The popular mesh pencil cup with a solid bottom meets this requirement.
  • Safety chains or automatic brakes are required
  • There are 8 30A and 2 20A RV spots with water. Be prepared with 50 feet of power cord and water hose. Reserve a spot with the track owner.
